Dujiangyan & Mt. Qingcheng Tours
Built more than 2250 years ago, stays safe and sound even after the 8.0 magnitude earth quake in 2008, Dujiangyan Irrigation Project is indeed a wonder of water project that still selflessly nourishes Sichuan people till today. Without this great project, there would have been no "Land of Abundance". It's this project that fertilized the Chengdu Plains and shaped the Sichuan culture and civilization at large. If Leshan Giant Bhudda-Mountain Emei is the shrine of Sichuan province, and then Dujiangyan Irrigation Porject could be the cradle of Sichuan culture and civilization.
If one is interested in water knowledge, Dujiangyan Irrigation Project is the place to worship; if one is interested in Taoism, Mt. Qingchen is a pilgrimage destination. Together with the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project, Mountain Qingchen was put on the UNESCEO World Heritage Site List as one of the birth places of Chinese Taoism in 2000.
Numerous well preserved temples on Mount Qingcheng are closely connected with the establishment of Taoism, one of the most influential religions in China and across East Asia over centuries. Dujiangyan Irrigation Project and Mountain Qingcheng neighbors to each other, they are just 40 minutes by high speed train from Chengdu; it's a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Chengdu, one can even finish two of them within one day.
